Target Audience: Northern Virginia area Nurses, Physicians, Nursing Assistants, Dentists, Dental Hygienists, hospital and other health care workers and staff; Social Workers, Counselors, and other mental health service providers; domestic violence service providers,including hospital advocates and any other program staff providing training to/working with health care professionals.

About Project RADAR:
Project RADAR, established by the Virginia Department of Health in 2005, is an initiative to enhance the health care reesponse to intimate partner violence in the health care setting. Through Project RADAR, health care providers can access training, current research findings, best practice policies and progams, and educational materials with information on available resources.
At the end of this train-the-trainer program, participants will be able to:
--Define intimate partner violence
--Perform specific screening, assessment and intervention strategies
--Identify and formulate responses to challenges specific to the health care setting
--Conduct workshops for health care providers as certified trainers in the VDH RADAR curricula.
About Dr. Jackie Campbell:
Dr. Campbell is the Anna D. Wolf Endowed Professor and Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs in the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing with a joint appointment in the Bloomberg School of Public Health. Her BSN, MSN and PhD are from Duke University, Wright State University and the University of Rochester Schools of Nursing. She has been conducting advocacy policy work and research in the area of domestic violence since 1980 and has been at Hopkins since 1993. Dr. Campbell has been the PI of 10 major NIH, NIJ, DoD or CDC research grants and published more than 145 articles and seven books on this subject, including the new textbook Family Violence and Nursing Practice co-authored by Janice Humphreys. Her risk assessment instrument, the Danger Assessment was developed in 1986 to assist abused women in assessing their own risk of lethality. It was recently validated in two major studies with weighted scoring and levels of risk and is widely used in domestic violence advocacy programs, including those in the criminal justice system. She is an elected member of the Institute of Medicine and the American Academy of Nursing, was a member of the congressionally appointed US Department of Defense Task Force on Domestic Violence and on the Boards of Directors of the House of Ruth Battered Women’s Shelter, as well as several other shelters.

Please note that Dr. Campbell's afternoon lectures will be the same, so participants should NOT register for both sessions. Participants MUST choose EITHER Option 1 (Train-the-Trainer with Dr. Campbell's Early Afternoon Session) or Option 2 (Dr. Campbell's Late Aftneroon Session only)
Nursing CEU's will be provided for this training.
